  1. DOGE: Congress and the Public Lack Assurance That Systems and Data Were Protected at Multiple Agencies

U.S. Government Accountability Office, 2026-09-29. Leer, 4 min.

GAO reported on September 29 that CFPB, Education, NOAA, and the SEC reported their DOGE teams collectively had access to more than 23 systems holding sensitive information, including personally identifiable information, though the teams' specific permissions could not be determined, and that SBA and VA did not respond to requests for that information. Evidence of controls such as security training, signed rules of behavior, and background investigations was limited or not provided, and GAO said the agencies' reasons do not diminish its statutory right of access.

Por qué importa para este rol: Borrow GAO's request list, from system permissions to training records, signed rules of behavior, and background investigations, as the evidence set when you audit access granted to a special project team.
